Mens Health goes digital

menshealth 300x152 Mens Health goes digitalThe largest lifestyle magazine for men, Men’s Health, announced today that they will release a digital version of the magazine specifically for the Apple iPad which went on the market with the iPad’s release.  Its addition is one of the first consumer magazines to break into the iPad market.

The April issue will cost $4.99 to download and will come with plenty of interactive content and multimedia contents directly followed by the May issue which will be released on April 20th.  As a preview to the content inside, iPad users can download 15 pages for free from the April issue.

Brand Editor for the magazine, Matt Bean, stated that when you have a brand as well known as Men’s Health the content will do the talking for itself.  He continued to say that the free newsstand preview that comes complete with a purchase option inside it will sell the subscription because it offers the perfect opportunity for sponsor ad space.

SVP/Editor-in-Chief of Men’s Health, David Zinczenko, stated that they have learned from creating apps compatible with the iPod touch and the iPhone how to take full advantage of the platform that the iPad offers users.  As a result Zinczenko said that they will be offer products that some of the most well rounded yet to hit the marketplace.

Features included in the new iPad app include live URLs that allow readers to instantly visit websites from the application, exclusive video from experts, and interactive features that allow readers to participate in snap polls spread throughout the issue.
